For years, we have been successfully establishing all SDI components, as well as developing GIS applications in a web environment for various purposes, using Open-source software. We develop and implement processes for the automatic processing of a large amount of spatial data using FME ELT software and script programming.

In recent years, LIST LABS has been expanding its operations in the direction of a new geo industry branch – a combination of Earth Observation and artificial intelligence – through the design and development of satellite data-based and machine learning algorithms-based applications. LIST LABS employees won first place with the theme “Green Island” in cooperation with the civil society organization CROGIS at the largest European hackathon in 2019 (Copernicus hackathon in Zagreb). We have demonstrated that it is possible to find suitable land on the island of Hvar for growing indigenous agricultural crops using Earth Observation data and machine learning techniques.

Our biggest clients are national public companies and state administrations from several countries in the region, as well as international organizations (EC, JRD, ICPDR). We carry out a significant number of projects for the necessity of state and local companies and administrative bodies, in whose jurisdiction is most of the Republic of Croatia spatial data. When it comes to spatial data management, we are among the leading in Croatia: working on about 15 projects related to the spatial data infrastructure, we have processed data covering 350 thousand kilometers of a surface, processing every kilometer of the Republic of Croatia land 7 times.

We say for ourselves that we are a small company for big things. We have behind us more than 15 successful projects related to spatial data infrastructure, the experience of working on projects worth over 10 million euros for the World Bank, the UN, and the European Commission, as well as established cooperation in 6 Adria region countries. We have achieved harmonious cooperation with several clients, respecting the deadlines and the planned direction of completion of the contracted projects. We nurture partner relationships, which is why our clients always come back to us. Great knowledge of the state of spatial data in Croatia and the region gives us an advantage over the competition.

• We were the first in Croatia to implement view and download services according to INSPIRE technical specifications (RGI – 2013).

• We contributed to the creation of the national metadata profile (ENVI environmental metadata profile).

• We established a spatial planning portal for the city of Dubrovnik in 2015 with functionalities that are only now being implemented on other portals.

• We have shown that the entire Croatian hydrographic network can be arranged with a few employees and smart automatic processing procedures.

• We laid the foundation of the Official STOKIS Topographic-Cartographic System and the ENVI environmental portal.

• We have established a modern basic topographic database of DGU.

• We implemented Open-source software when creating a tourist guide based on the Story Map concept for Mljet National Park.

• We provide technological assistance to civil society organizations by developing applications that support valuable goals – spatial planning, collective afforestation, volunteer actions, use of public spaces, and activation of third-age citizens. We adapt technically complex applications to ordinary users.

• Our employees won the first and largest Croatian hackathon of using Earth Observation data – Copernicus hackathon 2018.

Geospatial data is used in everyday life and are a solution for many problems faced by modern society. Therefore, we should treat this valuable property responsibly and ethically. Various data is collected daily/every day, so we already have a lot of useful data that we should use in a better way, improving cooperation between sectors and organizations. Only like that/in this way we can create a new ecosystem in which we share, reuse, and restore existing data to build safer, smarter, and more sustainable societies.

We actively support the establishment of Croatian spatial data infrastructure through participation in the NSDI technical standards working group and by providing services to NSDI stakeholders in the implementation of various NSDI components.

We are committed to sustainable development and socially responsible spatial data usage. LIST LABS participated in 7 volunteer projects and we are open to new projects that will improve the quality of our environment and community.
